Speed Dial 2 is highly customizable. From backgrounds and colors to layout and behavior, you can tailor almost every aspect of your new tab page to match your workflow and style.
How to access Preferences
There are two ways to open Preferences:
- Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of your new tab page
- Right-click anywhere on the page and select "Preferences"
General settings
The General tab contains core layout and behavior options:
- Compact Layout - Toggle between compact (groups in dropdown) and standard (groups as tabs) layout
- Columns - Set how many bookmarks appear per row
- Maximum width - Control the overall width of your bookmark grid
- Open bookmarks in new tab - Choose whether clicks open in the current or new tab
Appearance settings
Make Speed Dial 2 look exactly how you want:
- Background - Choose from built-in themes, upload your own image, or use a solid color
- Font - Select from various font families for bookmark titles
- Colors - Customize text colors, background overlays, and accents
- Bookmark style - Adjust thumbnail size, corner radius, and shadow
Sidebar settings
Configure the slide-out sidebar panel:
- Show recently closed tabs - Enable quick access to tabs you've closed
- Show browser bookmarks - Browse your browser's native bookmarks

Pro Tip: Changes in Preferences are saved automatically. There's no need to click a save button—just close the panel when you're done.
